The School of Business added two provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education announced the results of the provincial first-class undergraduate courses in 2023. The two courses of our school, "Operation Management" and "Financial Statement Analysis and Securities Valuation", were accredited as offline first-class undergraduate courses. Up to now, the school has 3 accredited state-level first-class undergraduate courses and 4 accredited provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses.

Professor Xia Li of the School of Business won the approval of special project of the National Natural Science Foundation in 2023

On December 20th, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the special project list of "Basic Research on Collaborative Operation and Policy Mechanism for New Energy Systems" of the Department of Management Science. The project of Professor Xia Li of our school, "Safety and Economic Collaborative Scheduling Optimization of Large-scale Distributed New Energy Systems" was approved with a direct funding of 2 million yuan.

The School of Business held the 4th Undergraduate Academic Paper Contest Award Ceremony and the 7th "Research Fellow" project launch conference

On December 2nd, 2023, the 4th Undergraduate Academic Paper Contest Award Ceremony and the 7th "Research Fellow" project launch conference of the School of Business were grandly held in the 106 Report Hall, No.6 Lanyuan, the School of Business, East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University.  Professor Li Weiwen - Associate Dean of the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University, Associate Professor Wu Yao -Director of the Undergraduate Academic Development Center, Associate Professor Shen Wenguo - representative of the outstanding supervisor, faculty Mou Xin - Director of the Student Affairs Office, and faculty Lin Yaowei - full-time counselor of the Party and government, attended the event.

The students enthusiastically participated in the contest, and a total of 12 contestants participated in the final field defense. The final was divided into the business administration group and the accounting and finance group. The contestants showed their research results confidently on the stage, fully demonstrating the positive, rigorous and realistic academic style of the students from the School of Business.

 

Next, Associate Professor Wu Yao introduced and officially launched the 7th "Research Fellow" project, which highlights the legacy of academic research in the School of Business.

The faculties, students and alumni of the School of Business actively participated in the Dinghushan Alumni Work Forum of Sun Yat-sen University

On December 9th, the Dinghushan Alumni Work Forum of Sun Yat-sen University was held in Dinghu District, Zhaoqing, Guangdong.

The theme of the forum is "One should never forget his origin and always be grateful: Alumni and University Development", focusing on the spiritual connotation of "long-lasting history and kindness of Sun Yat-sun", and aiming at "unity, exchange, cooperation and development". Xie Shi - Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, Li Shanmin - Director of the Department of Economics and Management of Sun Yat-sen University, Zhang Li - member of the Standing Committee and Organization Department of Dinghu District, and member of the Party Work Committee of the New District, as well as the executives of the relevant departments of Dinghu District, the Office of Education Development and Alumni Affairs, Centennial Celebration Office and the Departments of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Sun Yat-sen University, Wu Shenjian - General Manager of Guangdong Dinghu Shanquan Co., Ltd., and alumni representatives of various departments of the faculty of Economics and Management attended the forum. The 19th International Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Family Business, co-sponsored by the School of Business, Sun Yat-sun University, was successfully held

 

From November 17th to 19th, 2023, the 19th (2023) International Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Family Business, co-sponsored by our school and the School of Business, Shantou University and the School of Management, Zhejiang University, was successfully held in Shantou University.

 

Professor Wang Quan, Executive President of Shantou University, Professor Cai Li of Jilin University and Professor Li Weiwen of Sun Yat-sen University delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

More than 200 guests from nearly 100 universities and colleges at home and abroad, as well as scientific research institutions, journals and magazines, and enterprises gathered in Shantou to discuss cutting-edge topics of entrepreneurship and family business.

 

The theme of this symposium is "Healthy Development of Chinese Family Enterprises under the new development paradigm", which aims to explore how family-run private enterprises practice new development concepts under the new development paradigm.

At the symposium, Professor Li Xinchun of the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University and director of the Research Center of Chinese Family Business, was invited to give a keynote speech "Overseas Chao Merchants: Confucian Merchants Entrepreneurship".

The School of Business established the Alumni Council for Incubation and Cultivation of Scientific and Technological Achievements in the Greater Bay Area

On November 25th, the establishment ceremony of the Alumni Council for Incubation and Cultivation of Scientific and Technological Achievements in the Greater Bay Area was held in the Shansi Hall, South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University. More than 50 representatives of party and government leaders, alumni, faculties and students of the School of Business attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Li Weiwen - Associate Dean of the School of Business.

On November 4th, 2023, the first "Tempting Offer" students' career development planning interview competition and the double selection meeting of internship and employment hosted by the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University was held at No.6 Lan Yuan, East Campus.

At the launch ceremony, Zhang Yifang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Business, Mou Xin - Director of the Student Affairs Office, and Liu Xiao - full-time counselor of the Party and government office, attended as representatives of the school's faculties.

On November 8th, 2023, Shanghai Ranking, a professional organization of higher education evaluation, officially released the "Best Discipline of China by Shanghai Ranking in 2023". The Business Administration discipline of Sun Yat-sen University has once again taken the lead, ranking first in the country for five consecutive years among 307 universities with Business Administration disciplines.

Global Campus | Review of global campus program of the School of Business in the Instituto de Empresa

 

In September 2023, 30 EMBA students from the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University went to Madrid, the capital of Spain, to start a global campus trip with the theme of "21st Century challenges" in the Instituto de Empresa, a world-renowned business school in Spain.

 

This program focuses on exploiting potentialities of developed economies and emerging markets, seizing the opportunities of digital transformation and technological innovation of enterprises, having an in-depth understanding of the latest business trends and management ideas, enhancing business insight and leadership, and helping students better cope with the challenges of the new century in a globalized business environment.

The global campus program in the Instituto de Empresa consisits of three modules: classroom teaching, enterprise visit and cross-cultural exchange. The program lasts for five days, and the course content includes six topics: world economic vision, entrepreneurship, Spanish brands, and latest trends in business innovation, new global order, and enterprise transformation lab.

The five-day global campus program in the Instituto de Empresa not only allowed students to understand the global economic situation, further understand the Spanish enterprises and management experience, have a further understanding of the connotation of innovation, enterprise transformation and entrepreneurship, but also feel the Spanish customs and culture.
